We've started the REACH: MediaFest information process at Shadow!

1. I shared the idea to Business, Video and Art classes first. Kids were jazzed to make imovies and the notion of a contest. One teacher is doing this as a class project the others are offering as independent projects.

2. GenYes kids are telling classroom teachers that they will help any student that wants to submit a movie for MediaFest and/or use/integrate as a class project.

3. GenYes is creating a snazzy shared doc to be sent out to all teachers and students in pvlearners and I am drafting a note in ConnectMe conferences (to match it) to teachers.

4. We're using the MediaCenter as a pivotal point to coordinate the schoolwide effort. We have a sign-in list started for students.

5. We're posting the information NOW to parents in our Matador Mirror (School newsletter) about the entries for imovies and telling them to "Save the Date!)

There is no doubt that our students need to be prepared to compete in a world that is "shrinking" and facing many challenges never before experienced. Technology is a powerful tool to assist with this challenge. Unfortunately, educators are often faced with the challenge of not enough computers for students, computers that do not work properly, insufficient funds to maintain technology and/or update that which is outdated.
